All About Irises

Irises and Depression Glass

by Tammy Skahan on 10/28/15

I was introduced to Depression Glass by my Mom when I was a teenager.  I fell in love with the intriguing patterns in the glass.  I started my collection and collected 2 different patterns.  From a very early age I collected antiques and still enjoy the hobby.  I think that is why I like the historic iris so much, other than their elegant simplicity, they also appeal to my love for collections and antiques.  Recently, while at my Mom's house and looking at her Depression Glass books I found an Iris pattern.  I was so happy to know that I can combine my love for irises with my love for depression glass!  I immediately started a new collection!  And, my first pieces have arrived.  I am ecstatic!

Just WOW!  Check out the new HIPS website!  The photo gallery is now searchable!  I will be using this search option in finding and putting a name to many NOID plants in my garden.  This feature will be greatly used!

Re-blooming irises are so wonderful to have.  Today, Eleanor Roosevelt is out with 12 bloom stalks to give joy and happiness in the Fall right before Winter sets in.  Just love the re-bloomers!
